Hydro-flight above the marina — most people are hovering within minutes. A small-group experience in Abu Dhabi, run to a standard we would put our own name on — because we do.
Allow about 2 hours door to door. Departures are kept small, kit is provided, and hotel pickup can be added at checkout.
The specialist activity on this experience is delivered by our licensed marine operator, working under their own permits and insurance, with a PNW Tourism driver-guide looking after you door to door.
Every operator we subcontract holds the permits, insurance and safety record we would demand of ourselves — checked before we put our name near them. You get the adrenaline; the paperwork was our job.
Practicalities, handled: your driver's WhatsApp arrives the evening before with the exact pickup time; the vehicle carries chilled water and chargers; timings flex on the day if a flight, a nap or a whim demands it. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before travel, and you can pay on the day.

Your day, stop by stop
Pick-up · the Carnival to the marina
Your driver-guide collects you from your hotel, typically mid-morning when the water is at its calmest. Kit checklist on the way: swimwear on under your clothes, towel packed, jewellery left in the safe. The drive doubles as a briefing on what the next two hours look like.
On the pontoon · paperwork and briefing
You meet the instructor from our partner operator, sign the waivers and walk through the safety briefing. The key fact lands early: the instructor controls the throttle remotely for your first flights, so all you have to manage is balance. You learn three hand signals and that is genuinely all the theory.
Kit up · wetsuit, vest and helmet
Wetsuit, buoyancy vest and helmet are all provided and fitted on the spot. Glasses can be strapped; loose GoPros cannot, so ask about a helmet mount if you want footage. Phones stay on shore with whoever is watching.
In the water · finding the stance
You slip in off the pontoon with the jetpack on your back and float while the instructor talks you through the position. Power comes in gently at first, just enough to feel how the unit pushes. This part takes minutes, not half the session.
The first hover
The throttle eases up and you lift clear of the water. Most people are hovering on their first or second attempt; the trick is small corrections and eyes on the horizon. The instructor holds you at a forgiving height until you stop fighting it.
Higher and longer
As you settle, the instructor feeds you more height and more time. Flights run in rotation if you are a group, so there is recovery time built in between goes. By the end, the wobbling has usually turned into something that looks deliberate.
Dry off and roll home
Back on the pontoon for a towel, a debrief and the group's footage. Your driver-guide is waiting with the Carnival, air conditioning already running. You will talk about it the whole way back.
Insider tips
- Take the morning slot. The water is flatter, the light is kinder and the marina is quieter, all of which make learning faster.
- Look at the horizon, never at your feet. Ninety per cent of early wobbles are cured by lifting your chin.
- Make small movements. The jetpack amplifies everything, so think centimetres, not lunges.
- Eat light beforehand. A full English and a hover are a poor combination.
- If you are a group, send your most nervous flyer second, not first. They get to watch someone succeed without stewing for an hour.
Questions, answered
Do I need to be able to swim?
Yes, you should be a confident swimmer. You wear a buoyancy vest throughout, but you will be in open water between flights and after the occasional splash-down. If anyone in your group is a nervous swimmer, tell us at booking and we will talk it through honestly.
Is there an age or weight limit?
Our partner operator sets minimum age and weight limits for safety, and they are firm on them. Send us your group's ages and approximate weights when you enquire and we will confirm everyone is cleared before you commit. Better an awkward question now than a disappointed teenager on the pontoon.
How difficult is it really?
Less difficult than it looks. The instructor controls the throttle remotely for your early flights, so you are only responsible for balance, and most people hover within minutes. No fitness test required, though a basic level of mobility helps for climbing in and out of the water.
What should I wear and bring?
Swimwear under light clothes, a towel and a full change for afterwards. Wetsuit, vest and helmet are provided. Leave watches and jewellery at the hotel, and if you wear contact lenses, consider goggles or accept a few blurry seconds.
Can my family watch, and can we film it?
Yes. Non-flyers can watch from the marina and film on their phones, and the angle from shore is surprisingly good. Ask us about helmet-mount options if you want on-board footage; hand-held cameras are not allowed while flying.
What happens if the weather turns?
Wind and sea state call the shots, not the calendar. If conditions are not safe, the session moves rather than proceeds badly, and we rebook you at no drama. Mornings are cancelled far less often than afternoons.
What happens after you book
You get a confirmation straight away, with the reference and everything included in writing.
The evening before, your driver messages you on WhatsApp with the exact pickup time and their name.
On the day they are early, the water is cold, and the plan bends to you. Pay then, or in advance — your call.
