Allow about 2 hours door to door. Departures are kept small, kit is provided, and hotel pickup can be added at checkout.
The specialist activity on this experience is delivered by our licensed marine operator, working under their own permits and insurance, with a PNW Tourism driver-guide looking after you door to door.
Every operator we subcontract holds the permits, insurance and safety record we would demand of ourselves — checked before we put our name near them. You get the adrenaline; the paperwork was our job.
Practicalities, handled: your driver's WhatsApp arrives the evening before with the exact pickup time; the vehicle carries chilled water and chargers; timings flex on the day if a flight, a nap or a whim demands it. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before travel, and you can pay on the day.

Your day, stop by stop
Pick-up · the Carnival to the marina
Your driver-guide collects you from your hotel, typically mid-morning for the calmest water. Swimwear on under your clothes, towel in the bag, and any board-sport bravado safely stowed. The drive over covers how the session will run.
On the pontoon · how the board works
The instructor from our partner operator walks you through it: your feet lock into boots on a board, with a jet under each foot and the throttle in the instructor's hands. Steering is all in the ankles and knees. You sign the waivers, learn the hand signals and get in.
Kit up · boots, wetsuit, helmet
Wetsuit, buoyancy vest and helmet are provided, and the boots are fitted snugly because they are doing the steering. Tell the instructor if anything pinches; a loose boot costs you control. Phones and cameras stay on shore unless you have arranged a helmet mount.
In the water · the belly start
You start flat on your front, letting the board push you along the surface like an unhurried torpedo. Once you feel how the jets respond to your feet, the instructor adds power and the board levels you upright. This is the moment to keep your knees soft and trust it.
Standing up
The board lifts you out of the water and you are standing on two jets of it. Weight even across both feet, tiny corrections, eyes up. Falls happen, they are part of the sport and the water is forgiving; you are usually back up within seconds.
Dolphin dives
Once you can hold a stable hover, the fun setting unlocks. You lean forward, arc down through the surface and pop back out the other side, which is exactly as good as it looks on the videos. The instructor builds you up to it; nobody is thrown in the deep end, figuratively speaking.
Back to shore
Towel, debrief and a comparison of everyone's best fall. The Carnival is waiting with the air conditioning on, and your driver-guide has heard every version of the story before but will listen anyway.
Insider tips
- Keep your knees soft and your weight through your whole foot. Locked knees are the number-one cause of spectacular early falls.
- Steer with your ankles, not your arms. Waving your arms about looks dramatic and does nothing.
- If you snowboard or wakeboard, resist carving for the first ten minutes. Learn the hover first; the board rewards patience.
- Exhale through your nose on dolphin dives, or ask for a nose clip. Seawater up the nose is character-building but optional.
- Book the morning. Flat water makes the board dramatically easier to read, and the light is better for whoever is filming from shore.
Questions, answered
Is the flyboard harder than the jetpack?
Slightly, yes. The jetpack is worn on your back and is very forgiving; the flyboard is under your feet, so balance works more like a snowboard or wakeboard. Most people still stand within their first few attempts, and board-sport experience shortens the learning curve without being required.
Do I need to be able to swim?
Yes, confidently. You wear a buoyancy vest at all times, but falls into open water are a normal part of learning the flyboard. If that sentence made anyone in your group hesitate, mention it at booking and we will advise honestly.
Will I actually get to do dolphin dives?
If you find a stable hover, yes, the instructor will build you up to them within the session. Some people get there in their first few flights, others spend the session mastering the stand, and both are good outcomes. We will not promise dives to someone still finding their feet, because the instructor will not either.
Is there an age or weight limit?
Our partner operator sets minimum age and weight limits, and they apply without exception. Give us your group's details when you enquire and we will confirm eligibility before you book. It takes one message and saves an argument at the marina.
What should I wear?
Swimwear under light clothes, plus a towel and a dry change. Wetsuit, boots, vest and helmet are all provided. Contact-lens wearers should consider goggles, and long hair is happier tied back under the helmet.
What if the sea is rough on the day?
The instructor makes the call on conditions, and if it is not safe, we move your session rather than run it badly. Choppy water makes learning miserable anyway, so this is in your interest. Morning slots are the least likely to be affected.
What happens after you book
You get a confirmation straight away, with the reference and everything included in writing.
The evening before, your driver messages you on WhatsApp with the exact pickup time and their name.
On the day they are early, the water is cold, and the plan bends to you. Pay then, or in advance — your call.
